Just got home, no signs of P. imparis, but saw my first parasitic Lasius of the season.

I have so many and I've wanted to attempt it one last time to see if it could work. So why not? Plus I have a bunch of queens this season so far.
@Nathant2131 Best news I've heard all day, glad you finally succeeded!!!

Thanks. It was really me being stupid the entire time, but that story... is for tomorrow.

Good luck with that.
Good luck with that.
I had thought that as well, however I saw the other P. imparis thread that said the colonies had 1- 6 queens in the wild, so it's possible. I'm not looking for super fast growth, so probably stick to 1 per tube here.

Same here. Will be interesting how those fare though. Keep us updated, randeee!

Hello! Look really closely in grassland next to modestly forested areas. The queens would hide in the grass while the males fly and occasionally land.

Looks after about 24hrs of settling, 6 P. imparis without wings at this point. One with wings and super mellow. Last one with wings trying to burrow through the cotton feverishly, so betting she's probably infertile. Sun if it's warm as they say, may let her go to fly.

Keep at it, finding queens is definitely an acquired skill. No matter how many videos you watch or forums you read, the only way to really get the hang of it is to just go out and keep at it. I am on my 3-4th year of hunting and I finally found my first queens that were not Camponotus. Camps are huge so if you don't find any of the smaller queens you will probably not have any trouble when Camps fly. Also this is an awesome thread, I never would have gotten the p imparis queens yesterday without the tip from @Cindy.
Long story not so short, don't worry about struggling to find queens your first year or two. This is my 3rd-4th year and I still am no expert.
