Thanks for the lasius clarification. I changed the post.

Also, for the care of Solenopsis Molesta, just keep them like any other ant queen. Try to put her in a smaller test tube, though.

Late season Camponotus, Temnothorax, and Lasius alienus are flying tonight. No sign of Aphaenogaster for me yet unfortunately 😞

Pheidole, Lasius Murphyi, Lasius Claviger, and Lasius Alienus all flew yesterday.

You found Pheidole alates?

I found one Pheidole Pilifera queen. Sadly, she died. I'm thinking that she had a parasite of some sort.

I'd expect if it doesn't rain, tonight should be another good night for flights here in MA.

I found four live Tetramorium queens in my friend's pool filter, and put them together in a test tube setup. There was also a Pheidole nest nearby, so I'll definitely have to check it again.

Already saw a couple Lasius male alates stuck in a kiddy pool, so some seem to be flying tonight.  Also found a dead male Tetramorium, so looks like they also flew here.

I found Tetramorium males and a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus queen today. Keep an eye out for those two species.

Ditto here as well.  Handful of Camponotus pennsylvanicus and Temnothorax alates and dealates.  Not as active here as it was the night before.

Lots of rain and thunderstorms today, which didn't stop until after dark... and guess who just found a Pheidole queen on their back porch!

@Salmon I knew you could do it! :D

Now I have to find another one... The older queen died. She was very skinny compared to yours, salmon.

By the way, I move my Aphaenogaster Picea colony into a Mini Hearth.

I wonder if they actually flew for you. That queen easily could have been a straggler, especially if it was weak like that.

Maybe.. Maybe...

I'm going back to that tennis court to practice today. It rained yesterday, so I'm hoping for a flight (of anything, just please no more Solenopsis Molesta, they've been conquering my haunts).

In the afternoon or, apparently, later in the evening. Always immediately after rain.
