Tetramorium flew this morning. I found A queen stuck in water dew on my windshield at 7:48 AM. I looked around on my breaks and after work for more queens but found nothing. I'm sure they are  just ramping up.

I woke up this morning and checked my light trap and found another Camponotus drone caught in it. I can't believe they are still flying with force around here.

EDIT: Wow just found 4 more around my neighborhood.

Another EDIT: Add 4 more to that.

Nothing much happening over here this morning either. I will be heading into Boston today too so I'll keep an eye out.

Edit: There was a flight of Tetramorium in Boston. Just caught a wandering queen.

Tetramorium sp workers are furiously active today. Their nest entrance is also super enlarged, so I'm guessing they will fly very soon!

Here's the lucky lady! Pretty sure this is a Tetra. Found her near the Museum of Fine Arts today around 4 pm. Didn't see many though so I'm sure this is just the beginning!

Just found a Tetramorium female alate, and some Tetramorium entrances were enlarged and very, very active. I wouldn't doubt it if they flew this morning.

Took a quick glance at the Tetramorium sp. colony in my sidewalk this morning. Super active as well. Thinking they flew this morning as well. Going to be going to Georgia for 10 days so hopefully i'll find some when I return :)

Nothing doing here in Somerville.  Any idea where to look for them in an urban area?  I have been scoring the sidewalks but no luck.  @Cindy your advice helped me last time, so any more advice would be much appreciated.

@Zkublin I haven't been able to find any yet, sad given that I have a colony right outside my house. I'd look for mini sand-hills on sidewalks, definitely a sign of Tetramorium activity. I'll take some pics when I go home. From all the others who've posted, it seems like they fly VERY early at 6 AM (which may be why I haven't seen any, too busy sleeping :P). I'll post a pic of where I see them later before my flight

I'm out of school for the summer, so now I can attempt to wake up real early to witness the flights.

BIG NEWS!!! I found about 20-25 Tetramorium queen alates (with wings) in my local pool and almost all of them have been sucessfully revived. I will be heading out soon in an attempt to collect some de-alate queens. hopefully a few of them (the ones I found in the pool) are fertile. Wish me luck!

P.S. I also found a dead Anergates atralatus queen in the pool as well (with all four wings attached).

I managed to find 6 de-alate queens (one with a single wing still attached) while walking around town. When I arrived back home, I found that one of my alate queens from the pool had removed all of her wings and that all of the queens from the pool were alive and well!

Nice, ctantkeeper! I guess they'll be flying farther up North very soon. (if not already)

I haven't seen them yet either, not even stragglers hiding under anything.  I'm curious if tonight we see anything as hot and humid.
