Yeah apparently the turned the area between my glass door and my wooden one into a nesting space so I didn't need to look too far from home. :/

DOH!!!

Cooling off here; dropped below 80F.  No signs of anything flying here yet.

I just had a Myrmentoma Camponotus minor bite my arm-felt like a tiny electric shock. It actually hurt a bit.

There wasn't a whole lot of activity over here either. Lots of foraging though, especially C. pennsylvanicus.

Same, Camponotus pennsylvanicus and the Camponotus (Myrmentoma) sp./spp. were foraging heavily in the wooded section of my backyard.

Also foraging in my backyard was Temnothorax longispinosusTetramorium cf. caespitum, Lasius cf. neoniger, and Formica (fusca-group) sp./spp.

Oh, and I checked on my P. imparis queens today- there was a semi-explosion of larvae!

Yeah, I would totally get excited when I would see a major scurry across my patio but alas, no queens. They were probably hunting all those little green caterpillars that were literally hanging off all the trees.

Congrats on the larvae!

I found some males but no queens today. I seen 100's of termite alates under a rock if anyone was interested in keeping them.

C. novaeboracensis at the base of a dead tree stump in my yard. C. nearticus (also found near my door frame... very similar to Cindy!). Both have alates swarming/leaving their entrances. No actual flights but I just literally took this now.. Queens are literally peaking through the entrances and pushing out the males.

It's pretty gusty up here.  Nothing yet but parasitic Lasius, but still early.  If nothing today, I'd be really surprised if nothing tomorrow either.

The C. nearticus are flying now - looks like all the males are jumping for their lives to make way for the queens at the entrance.

Also might be helpful to post some temperature & time stuff for data keeping:

4:35 pm

91 degrees, Sunny

Humidity at 29%

Wind: WSW 14 mph

Western MA (Waltham)

I took a trek thorough the Dracut-Lowell state forest. Just foraging, not one alate spotted.

Lots of Lasius cf. umbratus queens, though. LOTS of diversity in the forest, too.

Holy smokes. It seems that I've missed the big flight. Not a single alate to be seen (like nate) when I checked the nest at my house. :(
