Hello, I love your journal . these ants look pretty awesome. Anyways, I couldn't help but notice that you have quite the collection of setups, including an unusual "mini hearth - esc" formicarium. can you tell us where you got it by any chance and what it is made of?
My goodness you have some beautiful setups! Where did you get them?
your ants are looking good! I hope they keep producing for you!

acrylic
and
plaster
most formicariums are from taobao some are made by me
i found a new odontonopera queen, this one seems slightly larger than my first one
found 2 new odontonopera queen, one is smaller than the others, the larger ones might be transvera
Loooong story short, because of my 2-week trip to australia some time ago, I sold most ponerinae queens and left a few for myself, I only have 3 queens and 1 colony left.
Colony 1:
species: Diacamma rugosum
brood count: 17 eggs
how I obtained it: random workers found, got lucky and caught a gamergate.
queens:
Species: pachycondyla? pseudoneoponera?
brood count: 0 eggs
How I obtained it: captured on da stairs
Those are some of the most beautiful ants. How do you find so many queens and stuff?
I accidentally froze all my ants
out of free time and roaming about in the forest, you can catch loads of interesting things.
quick update: 7/10/17
The diacamma now have 30-35 eggs
Uh oh.
A diacamma worker escaped and managed to sting my brother, he was really shocked and had no reaction for the first 10 secs or so, then he started screaming and yelling and apparently he is kinda allergic to diacamma because the place of the ant-sting is red and swelling. oops.
btw: he is OK and then crapped in his pants although he is 9

First larvae for diacamma!
Pachycondyla has 1 egg.
correction, 2 larvae!

The diacamma have large larvae, probably ready to pupate.
Your setups are breathtaking, and I'm glad to hear all of your ants are a-okay. Shame you had to sell your Odonto's though. I read somewhere that they don't lay eggs for a while.
while moving the eggs of odnotonopera i dropped them. i spent the next half an hour crawling about
This happens with me all the time, but on carpeted surfaces

for some reason, whenever the larvae for the diacamma get a decent size, they kill and eat the larvae.
Introducing to the gang
(drum-roll plss)
Harpenthagos Venator!
"what, stop looking at me"
(setup)
I caught them on a hillside which was to be demolished so they could make a storage hut thing
13 workers and nothing else, but they do have gamergates

My old T. bicarinatum queen (in Hawaii) used to do that with her first-molt larvae.
