well my omniest is in light 24/7 (not sun light)
all my anttopia nests are on my shelf with the nests in the shadows with red film on them

My tetramorium go nuts when I take the red cellophane off.
My Tetramorium do too. I found I can keep the red clear acrylic sheet over them and they seem ok with partial or no dark paper over them. However if I remove the red sheet, they get pretty stressed out.
My Camponotus aren't bothered by light at all. The queen gets slightly annoyed by sudden changes in light, but otherwise they couldn't care less.
