Hey all,

List your top five favorite genera, feel free to add a species & reasons why they're your favorite, but all you need to include is genus. Try to number them from favorite to least favorite. I'll go first:

  1. Crematogaster laeviuscula
  2. Temnothorax curvispinosus
  3. Nylanderia phantasma
  4. Monomorium minimum
  5. Solenopsis molesta

Thanks. I have some pretty cool ideas I can implement if I get enough responses.

Formicadae.

I honestly fail to see how you could have misread or misinterpreted these instructions. But thanks I guess.

I understood them, sorry if it was rude. You never specifically said I couldn't name all ants. Posting a comprehensive list of all ant genera would take forever to scroll through.

Haha, you're good. I was just playin' too. You should just name at lest five, it would take a while to scroll through I guess but I have an idea.

1. Solenopsis xyloni

2. Pogonomyrmex Californicus

3.Myrmecocystus mimicus

4.Crematogaster sp.

5. Camponotus sp.

Solenopsis gets #1 because they are the fastest, most aggressive ants around.

1. Myrmecocystus:
(interesting to see repletes, and to be able to change the color of their abdomen with various liquid with different colors, and to see their abdomen expand, also you can excessively place sweet liquid in their outworld without worrying about leftovers or mold).

2. Atta and 3. acromyrmex:
(interesting to see fungus grow, and maybe actually attempt to grow plants in the outworld they can use, bigger the fungus= greater the progress; a great indicator, interesting to see leaves being torn and carried in a line).

4. Paratrechina longicornis:
(inbreeding at its best while avoiding phenotypes not suited for survival, essentially having a colony that can live until you die of old age is the best thing, and before you die, just release them into the wild, and you know your legacy will continue on as those queens keep expanding in the wild, that has got to feel good).

5. Harpegnathos saltator:
(interesting to see workers fight to become the next queen after the queen dies, and the transformation from a worker body to an egg laying body, and having a colony live till you die with the same intent as the paratrechina species above, feeling good after releasing them into the wild, before you die of old age).
