Unlike my other 2 colonies of this species that died off on me, for no explainable reason. These guys are doing really good, roughly the same age/size and kept exactly the same. They have a ton of brood now the whole floor of the nest is filled.

Just a reminder that it's spelled Camponotus novaeboracensis. Google has it wrong. 
If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.
Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

April 4 2017 - They are doing really well. I done a rough count and there are about 130 workers of all sizes, some are almost as large as the queen. The pile of brood is larger everyday.

April 21 2017 - They are growing at a really fast rate, soon time to give them more nesting space. They have to be fed every day or so now.
I'm starting to see lot's of super majors, some of which are almost the size of the queen.

May 22 2017 - They have exploded. I have added an additional nesting area and a large foraging area with 4ft of tubeing. I am very happy with the progress this colony has shown.

I feed them a variety of foods. Meal/superworms, crickets, natural honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, molasses, peanut butter, sugar water, chocolate sauce, seeds/breads, apples, blueberries, black/raspberries, jam, just about anything. But I always give them a large variety.

Feb 11 2018 - Took them out of hibernation a week ago, 4 months total in my mini fridge at 54F. All is well no deaths and the queen looks good.
