This queen was caught in my backyard under a boundary rope in my garden. She is about 1 cm.guKHoQd8FT18Rwng6RUNC5R8wJFSiYA4m8THPV6oybG7oPqz6D8

I seem to be unable to upload images directly to the post

My wild guess: Formica sp.?

I have pinned my insects that have died. But out of curiousity, did you find this queen just to pin it? Or did it die on its own?

Certainly not Crematogaster. Postpetiole is absent. I myself would say Formica but I'm not hot on IDs.

This queen was actually the first to die in my test tube setup since I started, so i decided to immortalize her.

I think it might be formica fusca.

I came up with a little list of possible species :

Formica hewitti

Formica lasioides

Formica podzolica

Formica subaenescens

Formica subcyanea

Yeah, Crematogaster are Myrmicinae with 2 petiole nodes, therefore this isn't Crematogaster as it only has 1.
