When do you bet certain ants will fly this year? I'm anticipating the day i wake up and see a majority of my local colonies exploding with alates.  So far I've only seen Dorymyrmex Insanus fly. They are continually landing back to earth here in southern california. Any guesses when certain ants will fly?

You gonna run the light in the hills or canyon you think? I live ontop of a hill in the canyon, near oneill park. I might do some backlighting with a cheap light i have. Its not very bright but it attracts some moths so that should be good enough.

Yeah, I usually do it along Trabuco Creek Rd. near the entrance of the National Forest. There doesn't seem to be very many ants before that other than Pogonmyrmex californicus near Live Oak Canyon Drive.
