These guys just flew here about two weeks ago in Wyoming, Lots and lots of claustral chambers everywhere and I'm itching to dig one up. Problem is I'm not good at finding the queen after!
Nice, they can nest a few inches down for a claustral chamber. However, as soon as they get a small workforce, they'll dig further down. I would dig one up as soon as possible. Just dig one shovel-full, then, break it up into small pieces. If you don't find the queen, dig a few more times until you do.
Hopefully, the queens haven't laid eggs yet.
