While I was at work in Rio Rancho, NM, I noticed a male alate on the ground. I picked it up and it was black and smallish. No, no pics, I didn't have a camera and I had nothing to put it in. Just letting locals know that some ants may be starting flights now (we have been having 60 degree plus weather after all) and a big rain is due this weekend. Of course, maybe I am the only NM Anter?

Hi, I'm also in NM, but farther north and higher altitude. Last year I didn't find any queens until late June. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough? On June 24, 2016 I found queens of several species all on the same day, on the day after rain.
