I've been out searching for several hours but I can't seem to find anything. I figured today would be a good day for prenolepis imparis since its warm and I've seen lots of other bugs coming out today. Anyone in Missouri have any luck?

No luck for me either. I tried several different parks between 12 and 3. The only ants I saw were some Tetramorium workers out foraging. I think I may try again on Saturday. It's supposed to be fairly humid and in the 60's again.

We broke 70° today, so I gave it another go. Still no luck. I'm thinking these spikes in temperature are too short lived to get a real flight going. This week's supposed to a bit warmer followed by another 60-70° weekend, so I'll probably try again next Saturday.

Usually ants will fly after a couple of warm days have passed. This allows them to come out of hibernation (the ground takes much longer to warm up than the air).

Only ants I have seen so far in NE Mordorkansas only a hop, skip and jump from Missouri are Tapinoma sessile. An appropriately repulsive little ant for this vile part of the country.
