Location:  Off Ortega Hwy, Cleveland National Forest, Orange County, California.
Habitat:  Oak forest, nesting in a rotted log along with a Camponotus colony.
Coloration, hue and pattern:  Very dark red, almost black head, brownish-red thorax and front half of gaster, dark red, almost black rear half of gaster.
Length:  3mm.
Distinguishing characteristics:  Appear to be monomorphic. Significant sized spines. Even covering of erect hairs.
Behavior:  Seen tandem running at times.
