60 degrees f in PA today
lookin to catch some
I found some Prenolepsis imparis drones coming out of the nest in my garden... hoping for a flight.
Hit "Like This" if it helped.
what about minnesota? when do prenolepis imparis start their nuptial flight?
Usually after about a week of warm weather (60+ F). This is not particular to Minnesota but is a common pattern in most regions of the North. Start looking in mid-March.
Someone on reddit reported in NC P. Imparis were flying yesterday. Feels like so far away with the 18" of snow we've gotten in the last 2 weeks.

Seriously? That is almost like a complete slap to the face of us.
Do they also fly after rain? Its raining now in Tulsa, and it'll be 60 tomorrow and 70 on thursday
Dr Trager said on facebook that P. imparis has started flying in some of the southern states and that it should be really soon for everyone else.

I love every living thing from 0 - 400 legs! (Except for 247. That's just weird.)

That's definitely encouraging to hear. I was about to type we probably have to wait until April for us New Englanders, but see last year was 70s twice in March in Massachusetts; March 9th and March 31st. In 2013, 2014, 2015 we didn't hit 70s until middle of April, so quite the range there. So best cause a couple weeks out, worst case April

I'm getting hyped cause we're about to have a 6 day warm streak with a couple days over 70. I'm hoping the queens will start flying then.
