My favorite species would probably be Myrmica rubra, but Lasius neoniger has a special place in my heart because it was always there at the beginning. I caught my first queen of that species, and they are very abundant in my area. So I want to keep Myrmica rubra, but I've seen plenty of L neoniger, though I've only kept queens so far.

Pheidolegeton diversus, Pogonomyrmex badius, Messor barbarus, and Cataglyphis bombycina.

Cataglyphis is especially glorious, what other formicine has such crazy majors?

I have yet to keep any ants but I really like Prenolepis imparis. Runner ups would be Crematogaster and Camponotus.
