I am attempting to create a small outworld for my Crematogaster for when my queen get her first nanitics. I was thinking of filling the bottom in with a layer of this clay, then sprinkling some substrate on top. Is air dry clay okay? Or will it kill them? Thanks in advance.

Also, what drill bit size would I use for a 13mm OD test tube?

Yes dry clay is perfectly fine. I have used it as well.

I have used it to seal my formicarium, no problems yet.

It may shrink and crack a little but you can just refill.

Try re-wetting it regularly to slow the drying process.

Okay. Thanks for the advice, but what about the drill bit? The OD of the tube is ~1/2 inch or ~1.25 centimeters.
