So I am planning to make a formicarium using this container.

Dimensions

Length: 10.5 inches
Width: 7 inches
Depth: 1.5 inches

I am basing this formicarium's design off of the one in this link here: http://www.formicult...icture +journey

However, I am not sure how the hydration would differ in my container compared to the one used in the tutorial. I am concerned mostly because it appears as though I have more chambers in my container and it may be bigger (but I can't tell for sure). I was wondering if I should use two chambers instead of one to hydrate the nest or if one would be fine. Thanks for any advice given.

I would use 2 or 3 judging by the width of the container. You want most if not all of the nest hydrated.

You actually want a moisture gradient so the ants can decide what is best for them. If you do decide to use multiple chambers I would suggest putting them all next to each other.

I know they need a hydration gradient, but I was more concerned with whether or not they needed 2 spaces filled with sponge or 1, and if so, whether I should fill 2 spaces horizontally or vertically.
