Isn't it warm 24/7 in Cali? So wouldn't there be nuptial flights all year?
There is a important time for everything, important place for everyone, an important person for everybody, and an important ant for each and every ant keeper and myrmecologist alike

Typically not warm enough for nuptial flights in the winter. We have had some as early as January though, during heat waves.

I offer whatever I have to sell. I have no idea how much they will be, but most new colonies of ants are somewhere around $50.
Hi Drew, around when will P. Rugosus be available?
As soon as they have more than one worker.

Do you mean if the ants die while being possibly shipped? So I want to know in the future just in case something happens

I would think there's no refund over ants that have died in shipping.
If you somehow mean they die in your care, than there's most likely no refund for that.

Hey Drew,
What do you recommend for long term formicarium for Camponotus US-CA02 and Laevigatus you have available?

If they die being shipped I will replace or refund once I see pictures.
If they die in your care, it depends. For instance, if the entire colony suddenly dies, I probably won't replace or refund, because for that to happen, they were either fed something bad, or put in improper conditions. If only the queen dies, and you haven't had the colony for more than a month or so I will probably replace or refund.

Any decent formicarium should work fine for Camponotus; I don't think they have any specific requirements. For C. laevigatus, you will want something that can be put in your fridge, since the need to be hibernated.

Because he starts selling colonies in a range of 1-10 workers. You aren't guaranteed a certain number.

Does he just grab a random colony from the roster? Or is it predetermined?

From what I've seen he grabs what he thinks is healthy enough to sell. He doesn't purposefully sell colonies that he thinks will die.

Hi Drew, just a question, for the Novomessor Cokerelli in a test tube, does the price listed cover the transfer? Or is it separate from the transfer fee?

Haha, it's funny because I just was thinking about that a little while ago, and realized that might be a little confusing. It is included in that price. I'll make that clear in the thread.
Edit: Actually, I just noticed that was a mistake. I don't need to transfer Novomessor cockerelli. That is why the price is not higher. I don't know why I had "transfer required" on that one.
