The last thing I read in the chat was a pm from the admin who told me that they discussed everything and now political discussions aren't allowed anymore. Then I thought: "well ok that is a good solution". After reopening discord I figured out that I have been banned. Without any warning or hint.
Probably you were not so pleased with not posting political stuff anymore so you urged the other mods to ban me.
After some consultation we all agreed that we had heated discussions (about politics, gender issues and other stuff) before and that there was never any need to ban a topic from discussion or to ban people over the topic of a discussion, so we decided in this case to rather ban the one single user incapable of participating in a civilized discussion instead of banning a whole topic from discussion, especially since this user had repeatedly announced and proven that his intent was to "post crap" and cause trouble from the start.
An assumption that is further reinforced by the fact that after getting banned you INSTANTLY started posting on Formiculture, as if you had just waited to get banned all the time so could start complaining about how terrible the Discord and how oppressive it's admins are.
@Martialis
Why should I accept unjuistified bans? It seems a lot of people got banned there. Maybe we could make a list here
Your ban was not unjustified and it wasn't about politics, gender issues or anything else in that way either - and you know that.
You got banned because of trolling, the hostile way in which you treated other users, ignoring of multiple warnings by the moderators and generally trying to cause disruption.
And about that list, we repeatedly had people coming over from the Formiculture chat with the sole intention of causing trouble - and being salty on Formiculture after they got the ban they were pushing for (we also had people joining who were and are absolutely fine, they are actually the majority, just to be clear on that). We even had people joining who then invited friends (or alt accounts) to troll, assuming we were stupid enough to not notice.
There seem to be a few paranoid individuals who think that there's actually a competition between the Discord and the Formiculture chat and that it is their holy duty to sabotage the Discord by trolling and disrupting or even shutting down discussions. Or maybe they are just grumpy because they managed to blow all their chances to be part of the community we built because, let's be honest, there is just no alternative - of all the "I am gonna make my own better Discord server without you" guys not a single one has succeeded (and there were quite a few attempts).
The fact is that there is no competition between the Formiculture chat and the Discord (except the one some people are trying to make up).
We welcome everyone who doesn't come with the sole intent of causing trouble, no matter of political views or social alignment (I've even had some pretty good discussions with some very conservative folks). Our community of over 650 people speaks for itself and proves that we're actually doing something right.
If you think you can do better, you're welcome - go on and show us. Discord is free, everyone can make a server, it's not even an effort at all.
Building a community and keeping it alive, dealing with trolls, edgy kids and malicious individuals that is where the challenge begins - and obviously none of those who complain about the way we manage our server are capable of doing just that.
