Maybe this could help with breeding these guys: http://www.formicult...s-in-captivity/

It would be pretty cool if it worked though.

I have looked at that one thank you, I will keep an eye on them and decide a course of action accordingly. I assume when the males face the do or die moment they are going to try to mate any way they can. I haven't seen the queens and males out together since my last attempt at forced mating. I think the hottest days of summer are all but over but I haven't seen them flying in the wild yet either. It's going to be soon surely. There is a good chance I will miss it being busy at work but that's ants for you.

This glowing thing you want do to... I think Terry would be a great source of information. He is kind of the "researcher" for chemicals vs ants around here.

I don't think I'm going to attempt to create glow in the dark ants. That project is all yours if your willing. :D I may dream about them though.

The Anonychomyrma sp. has her first nanitic today proving the Gecko is quite capable of raising founding queens.

Nony's 1st nanitic

It's going to be a roller coaster of new arrivals from here on in. :)

Shouldn't take long. She slowed egg production for a short period but has some larvae and some eggs for round two and three.

Nony's nanitics 1

I took these pictures of the second arrival this morning and there were five by nightfall.

Nony's nanitics 2
These workers are really small.

I am assuming no hibernation and active year round? or a small hibernation? I know it can it get cold there so just wondering.

Yeah, no hibernation required as far as I know.

I've been very busy lately but managed to come up with a new design of formicarium especially for Pseudoneoponera sp or other big ants with small colonies.

Pseudo nest 1

Pretty much the same concept as my others but this time the hebel is supporting the tank.

Pseudo nest 2
Still have a bit to do before I can move "The Matrix" into their new nest.
Pseudo nest 3
Pseudoneoponera sp can't seem to climb glass so no lid is required for now.

I haven't done any tunnel work just yet. I'll update when it is more complete.
