I Received my Small Hybrid Formicarium from AntsCanada today!  

 

They gave me a tube and a plastic test tube too but they didn't fit the holes so I had to macgyver something else lol

 

I hope my ant (Princess Leia) Loves her new home!

His own products don't fit in his own formicaria? Yikes. You also shouldn't been putting a queen in there alone, she will have a much lower success rate than in a test tube.

Like we have been saying, if you move your queen into that formicarium, there is a strong chance she is not going to do well... I speak from personal experience.

No worries, they didn't mean nothing by it. I also get excited over it. A lot of people don't like AC or his products. You just do whatever you want though. I Would wait until she has workers to put her in there. Good luck and try take what others have said here as more of constructive criticism rather than negativity. Good luck with your queen.

Let's be sure to separate the helpful recommendation (to wait until the colony has a greater number of workers before moving them into a formicarium), from the unhelpful and unnecessary disparagement of a reputable vendor in this community and their products.

Even Mikey says in his videos all the time to wait until a colony has 20 or so workers before moving them into a formicarium.

I agree. If it sounds like we are pestering you Shareallicu, we are not. We are simply trying to get you to understand something that you are for whatever reason incapable of understanding. We are only trying to help you to make your experience better. So Shareallicu, we strongly suggest you wait until your queen has at least 20 workers, or else your queen is dead. There is no reason why you would not listen to us.

There is a reason. It's called ignorance/stupidity. I have collided with both during antkeeping and it is not good. Listen to the experts like Batspiderfish and Drew. They have both told you that it is a stupid and foolish idea. (Man I really am headed to the negative side...) I leave by saying if it isn't expert advice that you are wanting, and if you just want to hear good things, I agree with what you said, maybe this site doesn't fit for you.

Well, I wouldn't go as far calling her ignorant or stupid? That's just mean and just the kind of thing we don't need around here. She is new to the hobby so naturally she won't know much about it. Also i am not sure about batspiderfish, but Drew is not an expert. I have a great deal of respect for both of them, as they know way more on the subject then I do by a long shot. Rather than experts, they are just very experienced ant keepers. With that I agree with other posts people made, but this one was a little harsh.

How did I become part of this? Sure I would recommend waiting until the queen has workers, but I don't think it means certain death if she doesn't.

i use TaoBao formicariums

You live in Hongkong right? How do you get them to ship anywhere that's not china? I live in Sweden, but even when I select Hongkong, it still says selling is prohibited because of chinese regulations. This is of course only regarding their formicariums, not any queen ant trade, as that seems to be illegal in China.
