good to know. Is there an explanation for why newer eggs seem smaller?

Most likely they're nanitics.

We should respect all forms of consciousness. The body is just a vessel, a mere hull.

Well, I recently fiddled a little with temperature and now I noticed that the queen would lay more eggs in colder conditions but the brood would go into a semi-hibernation. All eggs are larvae now. They constantly stuff the new larvae as soon as they hatch!

We got pupae! I raised the temperature a bit more and now the egg pile is twice the size of the queen! How do so many eggs fit in that tiny faster?

The claviger colony is booming. No workers yet but huge piles of eggs and large numbers of larvae.

They get pretty enormous, well over 10,000 workers I believe.

I SEE 3 CALLLOW CLAVIGER WORKERS!

It's very interesting how the cocoons turn a dark orange before they eclose as oppose to dark brown or grey in the other species

Canadian anter, your nest seems highly hydrated. Is that okay? I would like to know.

Lasius really like hydration and it has never negatively affected the health of the ants
