New colony! Pheidole Megacephala!
I caught 3 queens, 5 workers, 3 soldiers, and 4 larvae. I placed them in my Mini Hearth Formicarium. The Ochetellus ended up moving out a few days ago :).

They seem happy in the nest!

My pheidole caught a live fruit fly! The soldiers disassembled the fly and the queens are eating the legs right now.

My Solenopsis have larvae, pupae in a few weeks.

Anoplolepis have some nice sized larvae! Glad to see the wild caught colony is doing well.

For some reason, a cute little ant cricket appeared in my anoplolepis colony. It seems to like riding on the queens. It is so tiny!

I wonder if it crawled in the formicarium or it was hiding in the nest dirt that I put in the formicarium (I put a little bit of the dirt from their nest to make them feel comfortable recently. The original nest is doing fine). It's not a mite by the way, because I can see the dark brown stripes on the orange body.

Ochetellus has 3 workers now!
Friend (I introduced him to keeping ants) has caught a mature Strumigenys colony, hopefully he can give me one queen if any alates come.

I've located a Leptogenys colony. Will try to catch a queen soon.

Baby wasp has grown up into a nice black and yellow mud dauber, has been released where found.

Artificially Inseminated Solenopsis have laid eggs.

He caught a Strumigenths colony?! Those are REALLY hard to keep in captivity... Maybe letting them go might be better? Your call though

I've taught him well. He's kept a Pseudomyrmex queen with a HUGE dent in gaster and got workers first try :).

I'll ask him if he wants to release them, but I'm sure that he will try to keep 'em. Apparently he has springtail infestations in potted plants, so those ants might do wonders for his parents' garden.

I just got an email from him. He gave one of the ants a springtail and they caught it! He says he found the colony (10 or so workers, one queen) in a piece of rotting wood when he was looking for camponotus..

Wow nice ants

Thanks again!

It's nice to see that some people check out my posts! :)

My Tetramorium Bicarinatum now has an egg. After a long history of her eating her own eggs and larvae, I hope that she actually raises this one.

I caught a dealate pheidole queen, which is a record for me because I've only caught aged queens from their nests. It seems to be happy, but has yet to lay an egg.

The anoplolepis are carting mealworms to their nest at SUPERSANIC (meme reference) speed. I wonder if the cricket is eating all of their food.

According to my friend, there are in fact a few alates in his colony of strumigenys. He says he will give me one if there is a small nuptial flight in his setup (his setup is pretty much a partially sealed tupperware with lots of damp tissue, with the outworld being a dry tupperware). He says that he is trying to amp up the humidity in the outworld by spraying it with water, but the ants seem to be stubborn.

My tetramorium somehow escaped. After days of searching, I found her in my school backpack. I gave her 2 wild pheidole larvae and now she seems full and happy.

I've moved my Pheidole established colony into a new test tube. It has some dirt in it. They seem happy, but upon further inspection I noticed a tiny dead snail shell. Should I worry about that harming my ants or me? (rat lungworm is in hawaiian snails).

Also Ochetellus business is booming! 6 workers already! Also, if I'm seeing correctly there is a male alate pupa. I wonder if my infertile queen laid that...
