One family of small tarantulas shares habitat with European Formica (Serviformica) ants, they are commonly known as wolf spiders and they are largest European species of spiders.

Their name comes from Greek word for wolf - lycos.

 

Even I have arachnophobia I've got some strength to wait for female Lycosa to exit her hole in ground.

I've noticed that with Camponotus ants, but, I've also found that Lycosa love to eat ants...

I have seen those spiders on a glider airport while I was in Hungary! (I go almost every summer, but not this one.) They are very interesting.
