So recently I've been finding a lot of these colonies. I found 2 today and 1 yesterday. I accidentally sucked up the 2 from today in the same aspirator, so I put them in the fridge into as even groups as possible without getting escapees, and they seem to be fine. Fingers crossed!
Here's the 2 colonies I found today, I put them in some BoxBox mini's with a small cotton ball for now. I'm planning to work on a formicaria using BoxBox mini's for founding colonies, like drew's. I think I will transfer these colonies to testubes soon, and put the bigger colony in the BoxBox.
1 colony has 9 workers, and the other as 5. I might try to even it out a bit more later.
Here's the big colony I caught yesterday. I haven't really counted, but I'm assuming there's about 20 workers with majors.
One of the small colonies I caught today had a pile of eggs, but I dumped out all the ants out of the aspirator as soon as I noticed I combined them on accident, and I lost most of them.
These will be going into hibernation very soon.
