Not 100% sure if this is a queen. I suspect she is though

1. Location of collection: East Ipswich QLD
2. Date of collection: 22/11/2016
3. Habitat of collection: Pavement next to grasslands
4. Length (from head to gaster): about 6 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Red to dark brown head and thorax. Black gaster
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Smaller gaster than I'm used to
7. Distinguishing behavior: Quite friendly. Found her in blistering 34 degree C heat in the sun. I went to shade her and she came up to me and licked the sweat off of my hand.
8. Nest description: Unknown

In my opinion, it does look like a queen, but not sure what species or genus.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Batspiderfish had a look at her on AntsCanada and thinks she is a Melophorus sp.
