"Ponerine" is an adjective which describes anything from the Ponerinae subfamily.

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Black lives still matter.

Based on photos and size difference, I will say you got the queen. For this species the queen has wing scars which you can observe if you look closely, for final confirmation.

I would advise you to connect the test tube asap, to an outworld and start giving them insects.

Good luck with them! cheers

I think you're right. They're classified as Austroponera castanea now though. I've got a bunch nesting in ponga logs in my garden, really fun to watch :).

I tried seeing if I could see any wings scars it didn't look like there was any. As I stated previously the "queen" laid eggs would it of been trophic eggs to feed the larvae?

Austroponera castanea has ergatoid queens which are wingless.
