What1?!?!?! 130 ? already ?!?!?!?
You only have one of these colonies ?
Are the workers, soldiers, or queens of this species bigger than 10mm ?
No. I don't know how many Pheidole you're going to find that size.
Update 9-16-2015
Just fed the colony today and counted approximately 130 workers.
That's quite a bit, do these grow fast just like most Pheidole species?
I don't know that most grow fast. I think some can grow pretty fast if you have a healthy queen.
Update 10-1-2015
This colony seems to be losing a lot of workers, so I moved them into a dirt box. They have already customized it quite a bit.
Very nice colony, how did they lost a lot of workers though?
They died.
What happened...
Update 10-20-2015
This colony continued to lose lots of workers and is now down to just a couple.
Update 11-8-2015
This whole colony is now dead including the queen.
How come? I find that my Pheidole is quite picky on their foods, so I have been giving them various of foods recently.
Update 6-19-2016
I found another one of these queens wandering around on the ground on 6-17-2016, in Trabuco Canyon, CA. I just put it in a test tube setup for now.
Update 6-19-2016
Well that lasted long. The queen drowned in a test tube flood.
Well I don't think this one wanted to drown.
It just needed to grow gills is all
