Ok this is urgent.Temperatures here are starting to dip into the 40s or 6-7 C for my Canadian friends and I have a few phids that NEED to hibernate. How do I hibernate them? The same way as ants? The setup they're in is too big for my mini-fridge so I'll have to transfer them into different setups.

They probably don't need to be chilled. They'll just be active as long as it's warm.

Jumping spiders only live 1 year on average. Pretty much die in the Winter in nature. They'll live a little bit longer in captivity if you don't hibernate them.

they will overwinter here. They construct protective silk cases and just sleep

Probably not. I know that is a spider closes itself in a silk cocoon, it is actually giving birth and tending to its eggsac. That happened to my jumping spider species. And others documented too.

Hey, I have kept almost every insect in my state, i actually just got back from collecting some bugs. Nights the best time. Just put her in your garage or shed. No need for it to be heated! Just be sure you put them him out on a warmer day so he slowly goes int hibernation as the temperature slowly drops... Make sense? Good Luck!
