I think my ponerine ant eggs hatched a few days ago. The eggs were a light brown colour but recently changed to a chalky white colour. I'm not entirely sure as this is my first (and favourite) queen ant, but I believe these are larvae. Looking at the pics, you can see their full stomachs. Am I correct?

I have tried to not disturb the iridomyrmax, but I know one of them carries a bunch of eggs around with her. Not sure if they have hatched as of yet. I'll check again in a few days when I'll give them all a feed of honey.

Appears like they are just about to enter the larvae stage  :)

Sorry, but Iridomyrmex is not ponerine ant. its a dolichoderinae.

This one (apparently) is a ponerine. I also have some iridomyrmex. Check http://www.formicult...h-october-2016/   I'm kind of going with James on the ID, but will wait for nanitics for a better ID.

it looked like you were mixing things up when actually you were talking about two completely different ants.

Ignore my comment regarding your queen.

If ponerine ant once brood becomes larvae you should see some spikes.

Its no drama Rapa :) I figured it was just an honest mistake.

If you look closely at the pic, you can kind of see some spike like structures. Is that what you are talking about?
