Hi !

I would like to ask for any tip, info about how to keep a single queen of pogonomyrmex texanus?

She is in a test tube set up with a small outside box, with sugar where sometimes comes out to eat and roam.

The test tube is covered and dark. the small box is at exposed.

She has layed 7 eggs, not yet hatched.

An to end, a crazy question: did anyone ever tried boosting Pogonomyrmex with messor larvae/puppae ?

Would it even be possible? I was wondering what allows queens to accept other Pogonomyrmex larvae/puppae?

Thank you

Thank you Alabama Anter, I wasn't sure about it. Antstore states that they are claustral. It makes more sense to be semi given the way she behaves, coming out to the small outworld once every three hours or so.

Any suggestion on what to provide her? I am giving sugar only, with a drop of water.

I have decided to give it a try.

Food or brood?

I have given my pogonomyrmex texanus a messor valentineae puppae.

Lets see if she adopts or consumes it.

what's your guess?
