Hi guys! We have a very bad category 4 hurricane about to hit me and my family dead on. This is going ot be the worst hurricane on the east coast of all time. I just rescued a Tapinoma Meganocephalum. They won't be contained in this testtube with a paper towel plug, and I don't know what to do?! Any advice? Thank you.

Do you have tupperware with a good seal? You could cover the test tube on the outside in foil as a "temp home" and use a large tupperware as an outworld... I would also suggest multiple test tubes and one just for water at least.
Make sure air is still getting in though without letting ants escape

The set of which solutions are viable depends on how long they'd need to be in their temporary home. One solution that might work for a few days is simply to keep their test tube in a ziplock bag.

My Tapinoma sessile were nearly impossible to contain. The most successful way to contain them was to use fluon. I would recommend you put them in some kind of outworld and make a band of fluon about 6 inches thick. Whenever I tried to contain my colony of Tapinoma sessile with any other kind of barrier it usually fails. Good luck!

FYI Tapinoma sessile are identical to Tapinoma melanocephalum except they are brown.

if your family just died, i think you may have more to worry about than ants. but i'm not one to judge your priorities.

No one died, and this was the day after. Thank you for your opinion though.
