Hello,

 

I'm new to this forum and also to ant keeping. I recently captured 3 queens, one is Lasius Niger and already has some workers and I have no idea what species the other ones are or if they are queens at all. The pictures are from the one that I found with the male still attached to it. Not sure if the mating was successful as she hasn't shed it's wings yet. The quality is not the best but maybe someone can make use of them.

Tetramorium sp. You didn't include a location (or measurement), but I take it you are in Europe or Asia?

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

 

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Sorry about that I was impatient and didn't read the requirements.

 

1. Location of collection: Macedonia, South Europe  
2. Date of collection: Sometime around 10-15 September
3. Habitat of collection: Grass backyard
4. Length (from head to gaster): Around 7mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black with lighter patches on the Abdomen
