1. Location of collection: Caught in West Michigan,actually in my basement.
2. Date of collection: 9/25/15
3. Habitat of collection: Rural, near lake
4. Length (from head to gaster):1cm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: black, smooth
6. Distinguishing characteristics: n/a
7. Distinguishing behavior: slow moving
8. Nest description:
Sorry for the slightly blurry pics, I'm not even sure if she's a queen or not. I think she is but not sure

That is definitely a queen, maybe pheidole or crematogaster

Almost positive it's Crematogaster. Some better pictures would help. I don't think Pheidole flys this late in the year.

I don't see any pointed gasterAlmost positive it's Crematogaster. Some better pictures would help. I don't think Pheidole flys this late in the year.

Are either species fugly or semi claustral? I am unsurexcited. I'll see about getting better pics soon

Like I said, We need better pictures. The pictures are far too blurry to tell if there is a pointed gaster. From the looks of it though I am almost positive this is Crematogaster. They are the only ones flying this late in the year along with Lasius and Myrmica and Lasius and Myrmica look nothing like the ant in this picture.
