Hey everyone, last Friday I caught a Lasius neoniger queen. Yesterday I decided to check on her since I was gonna be gone for a few days and saw that she had at least two eggs. While I was very excited to see eggs, I have a few questions now.
1. I heard that Lasius neoniger needed to go through a hibernation period before laying eggs, is this true and if so, is it possible my queen isn't Lasius neoniger?
2. Can eggs, larvae, and pupa survive hibernation?
3. Do I even need to hibernate my queen this winter now? Or can I wait until next year to hibernate?
4. If not, can I choose to hibernate her during the summer months and keep her awake in the winter?
Thanks for reading and any thoughts or comments you have regarding these questions would be very helpful.
