Size: 5 mm

Coloration: Dark Red

I collected one worker of what I believe to be Myrmica in my neighborhood today. Can anyone help ID her?

Sorry for the blurry pics, it's hard to take pictures through the plastic. So is she Myrmica? She definitely has 2 waist segments.
And what size are Myrmica queens?
Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like Myrmica to me.  I also found a couple of queens out foraging and picked them up.

Thanks Crystals. What do I feed her?

Mine like hummingbird nectar, sugar water, and fruit flies.  Anything fruit fly sized also worked.

Some queens have different tastes, one of mine liked a tiny piece of ham, and another loved greasy chicken.  Just clean out left overs after 3 days or so, for some reason Myrmica queens are very sloppy and not very good house cleaners.  I had a hard time rearing these queens, many will readily eat the larvae/pupae if they don't feel like foraging.

Easy to contain with the faintest layer of olive oil.  They do prefer the temperatures to be 24C or so.
