Hi guys and gals I started keeping ants this summer and I currently have quite a few acromyrmex versicolor queens I dug in founding stage and I am getting some fungus from someone with a colony. I also have 2 queens that I need a ID on plus I had a cremetogaster queen but see chewed through the cotton anyway I can't wait til my queens development. But I can seem to find any good cheap fornicauirms for sale. If someone could help me that would be great.

The cheapest way to get formicarium is to make one yourself honestly.

<$3 temporary formicarium - https://www.walmart....-Clear/22027027
Simply drill holes "Doorways" in the dividers. and you're done - assuming you have cotton balls and would then do a hydration ball with it.
My suggestion is to not put dirt in it like I did - I experimented with different methods though moving forward, I'm not going to use dirt in my starting chambers.

For Acromyrmex versicolor, you have to make sure whatever formicarium you put them in stays at about 80% humidity at least.

I'd research Drews different hydration techniques and all the stuff he's done for his Acromyrmex versicolor before really trying something. I really don't know anything about "fungus growers" but they look to be finiky and difficult as all get out.

Yeah I gotta do my research for this species. But since the queens are slow to grow the fungus I got some getting shooed to me tomorrow. I'll make a update

I have been working on a plexiglass formicarium for my small formica queen.
