Two batches left on hold, buyers are coming this weekend. If they flake I'll put them back for sale.

 

I like this method. Saves me the laborious time of rearing feeding heating and caring for 3-6 months and then putting up for sale, so will do more of this in the future. Follow the thread for updates.

 

But this is only if they are caught right after a flight and there are thousands and thousands of them. Don't expect anything like Myrmecocystus, where I'll spend anywhere from 2-4 hours digging them up and only find 10.

Show them to Drew and not tell him where I found them. 

 

 

Anyway, these gals just got their first workers! Will be up for sale in a month or two.

Anyone interested in just the queens of L. occidentale? If so, will try grab a big batch when and if they make their big flight. Most of the alates are still hanging out the nest entrance.

 

This species produces a strong odor when stressed. They grow fast and can be aggressive.

Would anyone be interested in a queen only P. californicus?

 

Grabbed a handful last night. Only ask because they should be relatively easy to find here.

 

If not, going to put a few of these together for poly/pleometrosis experiment again. Let me know and I'll set some aside! Most likely $10 a queen since they will be in test tube setups already with fine quartz sand and seeds already in place. Or you can get one of Drew's dirt shacks.

Alot of people around here buy the queens before they even get their first workers. Although I charge less since there is the potential possibility of infertility, they all generally get workers.
