She's interesting-looking! I'm going to go with Pheidole californica

I found this queen sitting on a flash light I left outside, the area in in though is high desert.
Length: 5mm
Color: orange head, orange and black center, black gaster.
She still has wings (hopefully she's fertile) and she stays at the dry side of the test tube.
No pictures of nest

When posting photographs for identification, try to crop out some of empty space. If the queen isn't in focus (like if the camera focused on the glass or cotton instead), then the photograph probably isn't useful.

She might be Crematogaster or Pheidole, but I can't really see her.

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.
