My friends colony of Formica Francouri won’t lay any eggs and isn’t showing any interest in feeders. They have 50 workers and he’s tried multiple feeders despite that the queen will still not lay. The colony has no brood besides one pupa.

When were they last hibernated? The halting of brood production in formica usually signifies that they are wanting to hibernate.

Its July though. They hibernated last year from around October to around March.

Formica only lay eggs on a pretty set schedule. Sounds like this queen is done for the year. My colony is basically doing the same thing.

Mine keep taking protein, so I offer both up until I hibernate them.
