3. Habitat of collection: Pavement
4. Length (from head to gaster): About 7 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black. Matte head and thorax, glossy gaster. Seems to have a fine layer of hair covering entire body
6. Distinguishing characteristics: 2 spines protruding from back of thorax just in front of the petiole (see last 3 pics).
7. Distinguishing behavior: Very quiet and still.
Judging by the lovely spines she has as seen in the last 3 pics, I'm pretty sure she is a Polyrhachis sp, likely Polyrhachis australis. I'm hoping she is a Polyrhachis ammon, but not very much hope there lol. Question is whether it is a queen or not? If so, how close am I to a correct ID?
