Saw this colony swarming yesterday after work around 4-5 pm Mountain time.

Pogonomyrmex nest with alates 1
Pogonomyrmex nest with alates 2
Pogonomyrmex nest with alates 3
Pogonomyrmex nest with alates 4

Watched a couple of them fly off. It was strange cause they were different colored from the rest. They had a black head and thorax but the gaster was orange.

Some localities have bicolored males. There was likely a lek taking place elsewhere.
