these actually require the water dish next to their burrow as they don't habitually wander.
FYI the way you emulated the slope was awesome and the PERFECT way to keep many trapdoor spiders, especially euctenizidae and halonoproctidae. most aptostichus species in general will choose the steepest hillside they can find which means there are likely dozens of unknown species simply because the cliffs are both illegal to scale and too dangerous and unstable .
i actually did this myself with Bothriocyrtum and Aptostichus atomarius, it really makes them feel better, too.
