Well last night we had a thunderstorm (I haven't had rain where I'm in around 2 weeks) and practically no ants really flew. I think maybe because it was quite breezy but the only ants that flew were monomurium minumum so I was kinda disappointed today but I'll try again tomorrow.

It is still really early here for ant flights, most actually happen in the Month of July, and for us Canadians I know a few that take place as late as late August/September. Namely Formica and Lasius species.

I'm sure as long as you keep looking you'll eventually find something!

Yeah the only thing that's flown here is S. invicta and Monomurim minimum everything else just doesn't even have alates yet.

Update:After reading your post I decided to get up and go check outside and I ended finding a crematogaster queen and a camponotus queen within 10 minutes of each other. Thanks for posting that!

The nights in Chicago have been getting really cold, it got down to 55 a couple of days ago. I would imagine this would stop a lot of ants from flying.

Currently Keeping:
Trachymyrmex septentrionalis

Pheidole pilifera

Forelius sp. (Monogynous, bicolored) "Midwestern Forelius"
Crematogaster cerasi

Pheidole bicarinata

Aphaenogaster rudis

Camponotus chromaiodes

Formica sp. (microgena species)

Nylanderia cf. arenivega
