Workers staying in outworld

In one of my Camponotus colonies, I noticed about 10 workers started staying in the out world. Now the little group just waits there. Is this normal? Still seems to be a little more room in the nest.

Current queens/colonies

Camponotus novaeboracensis x2

Camponotus pennsylvanicus x2

Camponotus herculeanus x1

Formica sp. x1

Lasius americanus x1 (Lasius alienus)

Lasius neoniger x1
