I had a bit of trouble in the beginning, with meal moths but in the end they done really well. I've had them for over a years now, I recently got a few hundred more to mix up the breeding but other than that a new apple slice every three or four days and they do really well. I have hundreds of beetles, 20-30 new a day now that it warmer. Thousands of mealworms or all sizes, looking at getting a bigger container for them. Just put a tone of the larger ones in the fridge. Bedding is just all natural oats and bran.

Wow and here I thought I had a lot of mealworms, just curious how many did you start out with?

1000 got them from the wormlady.

I started with 50 worms last august, and now I have so many worms that its probably in the thousands, though clearly not as many as you. It's a good thing I have cichlids to take care of the surplus!

I've been having great luck feeding the tiniest worms to my small ant colonies. Once the worms reach 3/4 inches, they're pretty much useless as ant_food for me, but that's probably partially because my colonies are so small.
