Well.....interesting morning.
Went out on my back porch this morning, to pick up the neighbors cat that comes over for shenanigans, and I noticed two..winged...moving things underneath the clear water dish I leave out. It was early enough that I was still shocked at seeing them...but sure enough.....upon closer inspection, winged ants. I have test tubes at the ready on the table inside so I was able to capture both.
well...
One successfully. The second one was, injured due to a nosy cat curious at the goings on. It will most likely not make it. Continued with making breakfast. http://imgur.com/AsM0QvV& http://imgur.com/EqknN5L
Saddened by the probable loss of the one, but hopeful of the other, I went back out and scanned for another queen and sure enough, found a third. It was VERY CAREFULLY (pepper was made sure to be far away this time..) obtained within the test tube. So three are chillin' in the test tubes. - http://imgur.com/6g1IVMT
Went to work...
Walking into the door, I figured, "Why the hell not. look down and wouldaknowit. Found another one. However, while the other two had their wings held together ontop-one another, this one had its wings more in a V-pattern, separate. Not having anything to contain her in.....I quickly dumped out my pill bottle that contains Tylenol. A....little acetaminophen will do the body good yeah? I quickly went inside and found another smaller CLEAN container. Transferred her into it with some very tiny drilled holes on top. No picture of her but I can easily upload any today. She is chilling on my desk right now in the container.
well...I am calling them ants......can someone tell me what I have stumbled upon??
