Looks like they're doing pretty good. I really want a black Formica colony.

Crystals, actual age I have no idea. I rescued this colony from a flood last September. I saved as many workers and brood as I could along with the queen.
They started this spring with about 100-150 workers
And no brood what you see has come in the last 2 months.

One thing you can count on with Formica is that they will grow fast. Especially the slightly more invasive species like Formica argentea and Formica podzolica.
Do you have an overall nest shot? Or a picture of your whole setup?
