These are Camponotus, but without a measurement, I don't think anyone's gonna know the species. Can you guess? Are they small or large?

 

Edit: Actually I would guess C. vicinus. A guess is really all it can be without closer pictures (for me anyway).

I think the scapes may be too long, and the nesting medium might not be right for C. herculaneus, and while the scapes may be the right length for C. modoc, it too doesn't normally nest under rocks. Less importantly, the colors match up well with C. vicinus.

 

Edit: Actually I'm not all that sure about the scapes, because it looks too close to say, but the nesting medium part, from what I have read, is right.
